I am often asked about the real estate market and what I see happening in our local area. One of the most encouraging signs I’ve noticed is the number of businesses that have recently opened or plan to open soon. There has been a noticeable increase in new construction as well as a decrease in available inventory.

According to an article posted by MyHorryNews.com, at least eight other businesses are under construction or in final phases of gaining approval from Horry County Planning and Zoning. Other businesses confirmed for International Drive include a new Bojangles restaurant as well as a BP gas station and a drive thru restaurant, said David Schwerd, principal planner for the county. BP and the yet to be named restaurant plan to build at the southwest corner of International and River Oaks drives, directly across from McDonald’s.
Coggins Security has submitted plans for a 5,669-square-foot business near Brightwater.
Seabreeze Orthodontics is looking to build a 2,613-square-foot office in the Carolina Forest professional park near Carolina Willows.
Little River Medical Center has submitted storm water plans for a 4,000-square-foot office near the Family Fun Center.
Starbucks has submitted a sketch plan to reuse the 3,800-square-foot building on U.S. 501. The building, located just south of the Carolina Forest Chick-fil-A, is currently being used by a tourist information center.
